DIY Posters (for nerds)

This week I found out that I’m decidedly bad at DIY room decor.
OK, that’s a lie. I’m not bad.
It’s just that all those pinterest boards and youtube videos make it look so easy. Well, they’re all liars, the lot of them (so maybe I’m just bad, who knows).

Anyway. We made posters. One for me and one for Alex.

Alex went with a World of Warcraft theme and I, well I went into this knowing I wanted to make a poster, but having no idea what to put on that poster. In the end I decided on this cute take of the cliche quote “Live Love Laugh”; “Live laugh Lipstick”.

In Clas Ohlson we got a bunch of stuff for poster making; a three pack of canvases, acrylic paint, spray paint and paint brushes, but that’s where the easy part ended, because next up was printing out/drawing up guides for the letters and picture and cutting it all out.

Then we arranged Alex’s poster and pinned down the letter to spray paint them, and like that wasn’t hard enough, I decided I wanted to do my poster background in ombre pink and that using the letter guides would be too hard while switching up and blending colors, so I ended up painting the whole background beforehand and letting it dry.

When that was all done we peeled the letters off Alex’s poster and were left with this super cool rustic look.
I then went on to do mine, tracing the words straight onto the already painted canvas and take my chance with painting the letters on in white myself. It ended up a little messier than I would’ve liked but it’s so utterly DIYed that it sort of makes up for that. 20150516_140311 20150516_140330

So that’s my little DIY adventure. It was pretty fun so I’m sure I’ll have more in the future.
Next up for me is a trip to Iceland next week for my little sister’s confirmation ceremony and I’m super duper excited to see everyone! I also have some blog posts planned relating to the trip so stay tuned!
